Why are the French so classy?
Why am I no good with numbers?
Why am I not hungry anymore? I have lost 9lbs in the last two weeks working at Sains, obviously I am more active, and I am also losing my right bingo wing, due to constant use of the meat slicer, I'm not sure I like the idea of having one arm bigger than the other. I may have a bowl of Cocopops in the morning, and then for example yesterday I had a quick piece of toast at 2, then did an 8 hour shift and still wasn't hungry when I got home at 10.30. I had to force down a quick jammy donut before bed. You'd think I'd be ravenous, spesh working with all that lush food, but my appetite has just gone. I now weigh in at 10st 3lb, I was 10st 12lb when I started t'other week. At this rate by Christmas I should weigh in at about 5st 4lbs.
Sains is cool, I really enjoy it. So far I like everyone I am working with, they all make me laugh and they all have their funny little ways. I'm building up a list of characters.
Dave - awww, bout 35, lives with mum I think. Is the superman of wrapping meat, Martin and I stand behind him making sound effects as he expertly folds and wraps, although he can get a little tetchy about this.
Carol, umm, bout (42?) right laugh, we had a Take That karaoke moment last night, when the store had quietened, Martin was very embarrassed. He walked over, exclaimed that it was surreal to see his mother singing with the colleagues he had worked with for the last two years, shook his head, and walked off.
Brenda (50?) lovely lady, bit more sensible, very positive with her appraisals, she is quick to give positive feedback, and that's nice.
Jen, has looked after Martin over the last 2 years. She can be a bit serious though.
Barney, aww lil Barney, bout 18, I got him some bakki on the cheap, he was well chuffed. He asked if I was Martin's mum on my first shift, and then asked if he could also call me mum, bless.
Steve, 49, well Steve I have known for near on 20 years, top man.
Kylie, 30, counter's manager - sweet, scatty, panics alot, bit slow to get started.
Moira, 35, she's outspoken, takes the pee out of all the customers, says it like it is, I like that.
Martin - Lovely lad, he has been described by other colleagues as either being up there, or down there, there's no inbetween with Martin, and I use the phrase often at home now, which winds him up. Oh Martin, you're either up there or down there, there's just no inbetween with you.
So so far it's all good. I'm making friends, which is one of the reasons I wanted to get this job. Sometimes life isn't all about making money, it's about, well having a life. It's been quite a big change for me, and some days are a struggle to force myself out the door, due to my anxiety, but every time I do it I feel a sense of achievement. I look forward to going there, having some fun, chatting with the customers, just the whole caboodle. And long may it continue.
I did put my new curtains and tie backs up, Keith will have to redo, cos they are wobbly, I'm so rubbish with a drill!
Jack, I don't know ...
