Well that was some test for me last night. I turned up for my 8 hour shift and was told that it was gonna be a challenge. I was on my own. Great. What she hadn't taken in to account was that it was Halloween and what do people do on Halloween? Have parties. What food do they get for parties? Buffet food. So it was manic. I am not supposed to do a shut down until I have finished my 3 months training, or touch the meat slicers until I have been signed off by a trainer, whoever or wherever she might be. They left me with 2 slicers to dismantle and clean. I did the best I could do, I managed to shut down by ten to ten, which I think is pretty damn good for my second week. There was a few jobs I couldn't do, like replenish stock for the morning, as I couldn't leave the counter to go to store room etc. I am in this afternoon for an evening shift, and I will be waiting for one of them to mention something I may have not done correctly, then I will politely put my point of view across. I was shattered when I got in, not enjoyable at all, and to top it all I came down with a lovely dose of cystitis on Thursday, so feeling like I needed the loo constantly didn't help the situation, very uncomfortable. I have been sipping on the bicarb, which was keeping it at bay, but it was a bit painful last night when i got home so I did a double disgusting dose of bicarb before I went to sleep, and let it work its magic, this morning it seems to have cleared, so fingers crossed I've managed to beat it again, for now. Must be cold related, I'm trying to find the trigger for it, tis either cold or stress, we'll see.
I haven't seen much of jack this half term holiday and am feeling a bit guilty, I doubt he worries, but at this rate he will be 18 and leaving home and I will know nothing about him.
I have lots of transcript work to do now, before I start st Sains at 5, so best get on. I'll let you know if I got scolded or praised for my efforts there last night, this should be interesting.
Oh yes, and I think it will help Martin having me around. He came over with a long face at work last night, apprently he had accidently disposed of 40 quids worth of meat, and action would have to be taken, (ie from his wages or yet another discipline) but he explained to me that he was told to do it by another colleague, so a kind of joint accident, but he didn't want to shift blame and put this other bloke in the quagmire, so he took the blame. So I goes up to Kylie (manager of counters) and says to her, concerning this matter 'sometimes things aren't as black and white as they look, and Martin is not a snitch) Later on Martin comes over a lot happier, they told him they were not going to take action but would like to get to the bottom of what happened to prevent it from happening again.

Thankfully we don't get trick or treaters in this area as it is a child free part of town.
Halloween is stupid.

I hope you were praised after them dropping you in it like that, think you coped exceedingly well :o)
Cystitis... poor you. My Mum says she always got it during times of stress, so that is a possible cause. Hope the bicarb got rid.
