20 May 2006 - How many days is it now?

I set my alarm for 6.30am for the bootfair, early bird catches the worm and all that, took one look at the black clouds and galeforce winds and decided to go back to sleep. I then slept in till 10 o'clock, how about that, a well proper lay in, haven't had one of those for yonks. Will set my alarm for 6.30 again in the morning, there's two big bootfairs on, but the weather, once again, looks iffy.

Just been out and treated myself to 1) a new microwave. Bought one about a month ago, a Belling 700 watt, absolutely useless, doesn't even have the capabilities to warm up a cuppa. So have just gone out and bought a top of the range Sharp model, only a tad more exepnsive than I owuld normally pay (EEK!) but I do beleive you get what you pay for, and besides I do need to know that my food is cooked thoroughly as food poisoning at my age can be very serious!
2) A hoover. Bought a cheapyish one last year, claimed to suck up dustmites, cat hair, allergens etc, etc, after one month it stopped sucking up anything, then the head snapped. I have had to get on my hands and knees to hoover with the end of the hose for the last five months, being too lazy to go and get another. Again I bought a rather pricy one, but I did some research this time and knew exactly what I liked and didn't like in a hoover. This a Hoover brand and actually is very nice indeed.
3) A toaster. This must be my fifth toaster this year, I have bought pricey ones and cheap ones, and none of them have lasted for lonegr than a month, Tesco's £5 one lasting the longest at 5 weeks, but the bread didn't fit in properly, had to pop it in, cook the bottom half, then turn it round to do the other half. I can't belive that any firm would make toasters that were too small for a slice of bread, and believe me many do. I measured a sliceof bread today before I went, and 6 out of 10 toasters could not fit a whole slice in them, what madness!

Apart form all that excitement I haven't done mcuh at all today. I have just used my new hoover and have done my back in, haven't bent over like that in years, said the actress to the bishop. Now I'm gonna go play with my microwave, might just do a jacket spud, just for the hell of it. It's a 900 watt so should take only 2 to 3 minutes, let's see ... P.S I was offered my choice from a plate of french fancies, cherry bakewells and chcolate chip muffins, and I said no thank you, then I was offered a ciggie, also a no thank you, didn't I do well ........ still weigh in at 10st today, even though I devoured the most gorgeous tandori, special rice and onion bhaji's last night, so doing ok. x
