Well, certainly tas been a funny start to the new year. Keith's first day back today, woke up at 5am to a smattering of snow, a pathetic amount, a smithering, a dash, a light peppering, just wondering what all the severe weather forecasts are all about. Been reading on one weather site, severe weather expected, up to 1cm of snow expected on high ground, they call that severe?

Martin is on the mend, his wounds are healing pretty well, although he will have scarring on the bridge of his nose, the top cheekbone and quite badly on his top lip I reckon. His top lip was smashed in so badly they just poured that glue stuff all over it to try and keep it together. The worst injury was the cut on the inside of the bottom lip, apart from being incredibly painful, imagine an ulcer the size of a 50p, it stopped him from being able to eat anything. He managed to eat his first bit of solid food yesterday, a shepherds pie, and subsequently got an awful upset tummy, I guess his body wasn't used to the solids. He moved out yesterday. He is flat sharing with a friend he has known for ten years. It is in the next town, about 3 miles away. It's a lovely flat, much much nicer than the last one, all nicely decorated and fully furnished with a modern kitchen and bathroom. At least this time it is stress free, he knows he always has a room here. I feel a bit lost though, one minute I am tending to his every whim, as any mother would after an incident like this, to having him gone. I am aimlessly pottering around not really knowing what to do with myself. I wish life would give Martin a break, he is such a good person, he works hard, respects people and doesn't ask for much, yet he is being dealt such bad luck all the time. He has got a new girlfriend though, and she seems lovely and she is helping him keep his spirits up with lots of cuddles and things. I always dread it when there's a love interest in his life though, he wears his heart on his sleeve and is very sensitive. He makes out he can take it or leave it, but I know him better than that.

I have a few extra shifts at Sainsbury's this week, covering some of Martin's shifts, he is off for another week, to give his face time to heal, they didn't feel it would be good for Martin to be serving at the deli with a mashed up scabby face. He's not complaining.

It's too quiet in here, I'm going to go put the telly on and make a cuppa and do some more pottering about. I think I need a couple of dogs or something, I don't like silence and my own company.

Hope things look up for Martin. They are already. He has a nice girlfriend and has moved into a flat, and he is getting better from the unfortunate event, and he knows for sure that he has a lovely mummy not too far away.
