hello folks, best give an update on Martin
We do know who did the attack, he was thrown out of the nightclub for fighting, and then basically carried it on outside with Martin. Martin was sat on a wall minding his own business and the bloke ran for him full speed and punched him in his face, which sent him flying in to the road, he then continued his attack and ran off. We have witnesses, and the police have been around today to take an official statement. Martin knows of the guy, he is friends with some of Martin's friends, and they have never had a problem with each other. Obviously he didn't realise it was Martin, and due to them both having so many joint friends I have a feeling he might regret what he has done once he realises.
They should be arresting him within the next 24 hours and getting his statement, the police are apparently going to keep us informed every step. We will be prosecuting, the policeman who took the statement today after seeing the severity of this assault, and the fact it was unprovoked, thinks he might possibly will be sentenced to 6 months if he has a criminal record, which I have been informed he has. He is a 6 ft rugby player and Martin didn't sand a chance, he was sitting down smoking a ciggie minding his own business, and this bloke just came for him. Crazy.
I am also sickened to hear how the emergency services treated him, they wouldn't even give him a blanket to warm him up, he told them he was freezing and was shivering with the cold, and they just ignored him. The hospital as I said before told him they wouldn't treat him till 9 o'clock, 6 hours away, and yet were treating sprained ankles immediately as they came in. It brings tears to my eyes thinking how cruel this is. Some people who come in to hospital with injuries are the innocent ones, they are the ones who get assaulted by these drunks when they're just out for a bit of harmless fun, how can they just leave someone in that state without even assessing the situation.
His nose has a huge chunk out of it, due to the guys rings, also he has an M shaped gash which goes straight through his top lip, his eyes are swollen and the inside of his bottom lip is just one big ulcerated flap, he will not be able to talk or eat properly till this heals, at least 3 weeks I reckon. I cry everytime he sits there trying to eat something, I can't help it, I feel guilty that this has happened to him and there wasn't anything I could do.
It makes me feel sick, the whole thing has made me sick, I haven't eaten properly since it happened, I think I am in a bit of shock, I just keep shaking my head at it all and wondering why, what does this family ever do to anyone to deserve this. We are all hard working, we don't touch drugs, we don't abuse people, we don't abuse alcohol, Martin only ever goes out for a drink with his mates, he isn't violent, mouthy, he's most definitely not a fighter, we are good, honest, decent people and we have to put up with stuff like this. It makes you wonder why you bother, you feel like you're fighting a losing battle, trying to keep your head above water. It will be a long time before I lose this anger, I have the bloke's address and I don't know what has stopped me from going round there and killing him, I don't know. If justice isn't done through the courts then who's to say what I might do, I am past caring, nobody does that to my son and gets away with it. He will never be able to go out for a drink with his friends anymore, he loved his Wednesday and Saturday nights out down the club, the DJ played his music that he produced, he was just starting to get his work out in the club and get recognition, his whole week revolved around making new tracks and taking them down there on a Saturday night to be played, that's been taken away from him now, he doesn't have anything else. The physical scars may heal, but the mental ones won't. David Ballard needs to pay for what he has done, and I'll make sure he does, one way or another, that I promise.

Poor Martin. My son was the victim of a random attack a couple of months ago, just got a kick in the jaw for no reason, the police were as much help as a chocolate fireguard! Luckily he wasnt as hurt as he could have been. You never stop worrying about you children however old they are. Louise xx
It makes me feel sick reading about poor Martin - I dont think i'll ever feel safe letting my girls out on their own in the future.
Hopefully Martin will be able to put this whole dreadful story behind him and the scum bag who did it to him will get what he deserves - either through the law or other means.
Thinking of you all at this horrible time mate xxxxxx
this literally makes me sick...poor martin...it's just not fair...bless him...I would feel exactly like you do....
Hi Lynbo... catching up with you m'dear. This whole thing with your Martin is awful. I feel for you all. My Brother was stabbed years ago, that was about this time of year too. Just wanted to reassure you that the mental scars will heal eventually too. I do hope that the guy that did this is made to pay. And that your Martin is feeling better soon.
